Gone Fishing

If you own a fishing pole and go fishing a lot then you probably think you know a lot about fishing. If you’ve never used a fishing pole before, you might think that you do not know anything. Fishermen should try to blend in with the environment when they fish. Fish can be scared away if they look up and catch a glimpse of that neon pink shirt! If you haven’t noticed, fish are very excitable. Be sure to wear earth tones.

If you are fishing in a stream or river, cast upstream and allow the natural current in the water carry your lure or bait into the fishing hole. This will seem much more natural, increasing your chances of catching a fish. Be careful not to allow a lot of slack line to go into the water.

Keep your eyes open for birds while you are fishing. Whenever you notice birds swooping into a certain area, it is likely that lots of fish will be in that location. Birds are diving to catch fish to eat. Watch the birds next time you fish and they may lead you to a great spot!

If you do not want to keep fish but still want to show off what you caught, bring a camera. This fish will remain alive and you can have proof of your fishing experience, when you bring along a camera.

Clouds can be useful too. Cloudy days tend to cast shadows over the water, meaning that fish are spending more time searching for food. It takes longer to find food this way, and you will surely find hungry fish. Be sure the water temperature is warm and fish will be active.

If you suffer from sea sickness, and you are going deep sea fishing, bring the proper medication with you. It will certainly put a damper on the day if you get nauseous and still have hours to go on the boat. If you are prone to nausea, it may be useful to pack anti-nausea medication or copper bracelets. This allows you to enjoy your adventure.

Never be stingy with your praise when you fish with your children. Be enthusiastic about their catch no matter what its size. As an adult, it may be easy for you to nab a hefty fish. A child, on the other hand, probably does not have your understanding and experience.

You have to be very patient to be successful at fishing. If you find it to be difficult for you, then it may be better for you to find a sport that requires less time and patience. Or, you can train your patience levels by gradually building up the time of each fishing trip.

It makes no difference whether or not you’ve ever been fishing before now. Fishing is a great sport at any level. Remember that everyone can improve their fishing skills. Just make a commitment to learning and focus on your goals.
